Mysore to Belur, Halebidu & Shravanabelagola

This is the Hoysala heritage circuit, and it is the trip that most rewards having a dedicated vehicle. The three sites — Shravanabelagola, Belur and Halebidu — sit up to 40 km apart in rural Hassan district with sparse public transport between them, so groups without their own vehicle usually manage only one in a day.

Belur and Halebidu were inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage sites in 2023, and the soapstone carving at the Chennakeshava and Hoysaleswara temples is among the finest in India. Shravanabelagola adds the 57-foot Gommateshwara monolith at the top of a 700-step rock climb.

Force Urbania Rental for the Mysore to Belur & Halebidu Route

This is the circuit that most rewards a dedicated Force Urbania rental. No ghat sections and good rural road surface mean every van rental variant is suitable — book purely on group size.

About Belur & Halebidu

Belur and Halebidu were successive capitals of the Hoysala empire and their temples were inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2023. The Chennakeshava temple at Belur took 103 years to complete and its bracket figures and lathe-turned pillars are among the finest soapstone work in India; the Hoysaleswara temple at Halebidu carries an unbroken frieze of elephants, horsemen and dancers around its base. Shravanabelagola's 57-foot Gommateshwara monolith, carved around 981 CE, stands atop 700 rock-cut steps.
